Feeling Happy!

We had a great New Years Holiday. How was yours? We went to a friends house on New Years Eve and the on New Years Day we spent the day with our cousins and really enjoyed the visit. They had some gifts for the kids, so the girls walked away with some American Girl dolls and the boys got a Rockin' Train Set, complete with whistles, smoke, talking, and more. It is really nice. The boys also got these conductor hats, that look so cute on their little heads. When I get the pictures, I'll post them. Can you believe I forgot to bring my camera?? I know. Shocker. So we really had a great time.

Today I need to clean up the house. I'm in the mood to organize and make my home happy. I'm also in the mood for a little giveaway. Don't know yet, what I will give away, but it will be great. So post some ideas for me to help me clean and organize. When you do, you'll be put in the drawing for something great. If you have any ideas on what I should give away, go ahead and post those too.

Looking forward to your tips. Thanks!!

***Edited to add: I know what I'm going to give away. I am totally into necklaces lately. So I'm going to find a great necklace on clearance (my specialty) and send it out. When I get done cleaning, the contest will be closed.***

Happy 2008!

We had friends over at our home {ours is the biggest place} with a total of 17 people. It was fantasic fun with board games Wii games, movies, food and sparkling cider. Warren and I didn't get to bed until nearly 3 am.

Our home is slowly but surely being cleaned up. I have a couple other things on my plate right now and so it makes organizing a bit of a challenge. Since the kids have been on winter break we have been organizing and cleaning every other day. That seems to be very helpful.

If your backed up on laundry- take it to the laundry mat for an all in one. We did that 3 weeks ago and I'm caught up! yipppeeee!!

Shelves and baskets are the key for me. If you don't have enough get some at the thrift store.

Also- my family has a rotation of jobs every week. They earn tickets when the do these jobs and loose them when they don't. This also is for specific behaviors each child needs to work on. The prize pool to turn in tickets is anything from our treasure basket full of dollar store things to a date with mom or dad. A friend spending the night to watching a movie of their choice downstairs. This system works very well for our family.

Good luck with organizing, Shaina. ;)

Here's my bit, and as you know, I'm always Rite. ;) If you don't use it, want it, or need it, and it doesn't bring an immense amount of joy to your life, get rid of it. Include it in your give away, take it to Goodwill, leave it on the curb, throw it away, recylce it, or fling it into space with a super dooper space trash shooter. :) I can't stand to have unnecessary stuff around, especially when that's all it is, STUFF! All that said, I have been to your house and you don't seem to be the kind to just have "stuff" around, so my bit may be obsolete for you. Good luck!

Good luck getting organized in that little crammed place you live in.
I agree with Margarete get rid of what you are not using.

I also love to put things in baskets. somehow when things are in baskets they just look neater.

As for something for the give away you have so many great talents I am sure what ever you choose will be great.
But in the off chance I win I want a recipe book. So pick me pick me pick me...
Not that I am Begging or any thing.. LOL...

Listen to a book on tape- that always makes the time fly by. I also would like a freezer recipe book! Or even just all the recipes in plain text, you don't even need to make it pretty.

I know... I've been cleaning and organizing my home too. It feels soo good! I went out and bought some candles and gave my bathroom a mini makeover. I bought new fuzzy rugs and smell goods. I also got ride of a lot of the clutter. I cleaned my carpet too! I've been on a role! :) Have fun whatever you decide to do! PS Those glade scented oil candles are nice.

My favorite thing is to store toys and little things in rubbermaid type bins and then label them. I label everything. love my labelmaker! The bins stack nicely and then we can just get out what we need and everything else stays put. Happy new year!

I hate clutter, and it makes me feel better when I can just toss it, or it give it away. I'm with Margarite and Jennifer on that one. how about I just fly out and toss it for you!!! I love little baskets to organize with, they look so neat and tidy, and just cute. I want a recipe book too! Good luck cleaning =)

Well, if everyone else is going to be so bold, then so will I. I really and truly want a freezer recipe book. You know I'm not all about the adorable scrapbook type dealio, but those recipes just kill me. YUM!

If you have a lot of clutter from hair dryers, curling irons, etc fold up the cords and pop an empty toilet paper roll over the cord thiis keeps the cords nice and neat.
