My newfound love

I made these dolls. Yessiree. It's a "Wee Wonderful" pattern and you can buy it HERE. I made two "Olive" dolls and added my own personal embelllishments to the pattern. There is also an "Archie" doll that comes with the Olive doll pattern.
They aren't perfect. I had some trouble spots, but I hid them from the camera. I'll get better. The second doll went a lot faster than the first one did. By the way, I made the cowgirl first, using some leftover material I had used to make an apron. These dolls use hardly any fabric. If you have scraps of fabric, you can make these dolls. The pattern isn't too hard to figure out either. I don't really know how to sew very well, and I pulled it off. Special thanks to my super talented seamstress sister Sharon for the late phone call last night and answering my little questions about the pattern.
Georgie really wants the dollie. She cried because I wouldn't let her play with her yet. She wasn't quite done when she saw her and she said "Girl! Girl!!" and cried until I found something else for her to play with. Kolby was really interested in the doll too, and already has an order in for me to make him a boy doll.
It was my plan to make these for Christmas for the kids. These two dolls are my "initiation dolls". Now I feel confident that I can make more without all my little mistakes. Homemade Christmas here we come!

Really cute and crafty. It makes me think of a simpler time when you had to make dolls out of whatever u had on hand. I think they are fantastic!

They are "darling". You did a great job. So, is the hair drawn on?

Those are so cute! Fun!

The hair is felt. It is sewn on before the two sides of the head are sewn together.

Way to go, those are really cute! You wouldn't even be able to tell that you just started sewing, like you say. I bet there is a hidden seamstress to add to your huge repetoir of talents!
