Twirly Girlies

Friday Evening I got the notion to make my girls matching skirts. I went to the fabric store and got three coordinating materials. (Picking out material is my favorite! I look at it like scrapbooking paper and try to find cool patterns to combine.) On Saturday I sat down at my kitchen table, told the family that I was taking a sewing holiday, and I set to work trying to figure out measurments, using the wisdom from This Talented Lady and her cute twirly skirt tutorial.

I made Kamy's skirt first, then I made Georgie's. After that, I made them matching headbands and flowers for their hair. The headband tutorial can be found RIGHT HERE.

Ladies and Gentleman...I think I can finally admit that I know how to sew! Albeit, I am still a beginner, but I wear the beginner button with pride!

Your doing such a good job!!!!
I love this pattern I made a few of these skirts for Madie for her birthday since she is rebelling from frilly dress wearing.

I have a few headband patterns saved to try I will have to see if the one you tried is the same.

Now you will have to try dresses thats my favorite to create. i love makeing button holes and sewing zippers.

What a fun mom you are!!!! Your girls look so proud wearing their new twirly skirts. I recall my daughter (now 16 and non-twirly) having to see how well a skirt or dressed twirled before we would buy it. The better the twirlyness, the better!!!

I would put you in an advanced sewing category. You rock!! or better yet, you sew!!!!

Keep sewing!!!

I meant to let you know that a lady from my church makes these headbands and monograms the girls names on each side of the headband and it is so very way cute! Maybe you could do that for your girls too. You and thread are invincible!!!

YOU ARE TOTALLY MY IDOL! I wish you lived closer..and why weren't we friends when we both live in Charleston and worked for the Pink House? Probably my absolutely overflowing schedule! I love everything you are doing..and I so need a lesson in sewing..if you cold direct me to the nearest teachers...it's horrible I have to machines and can barely sew a line without help!
either way..i love all you have done!

Beautiful! I think you can no longer call yourself a "beginner" in the sewing world...you have skipped directly past novice and landed in expert!
