Organizing Blankets!

Oh what a day!!  Today was the cutoff day for The Blanket Drive.  Well, officially, anyway.  We will deliver them on Friday, so there are still a few more days left to collect, but today was the BIG day to organize, sort, fold, and gush over all the blankets we collected.

So last night, I emptied out Kimble's room, which was filled with all the blankets I had collected, and with the help of The Husband and the kiddos, we piled them into our van.  Wanna guess how many blankets we fit in our van?  Go ahead and guess!

We counted 333 blankets!  What wonderful friends/neighbors/co-workers/blog-readers/family members/church go-ers I have!  Amazing.  However, if you think that number is impressive, wait 'till you see ALL the blankets together!

When I got to Julie's house, she already had bags and bags of blankets in her living room.   Teresa was already unloading all of her blankets, and then I joined in the fun.  After many armfuls later, in which we declared it an official workout, we began organizing blankets.

We made a mountain with all the fleece blankets.  Can you find the two kids who are in the pile of blankets?  Where's Waldo!

Finally, after hours and hours of sorting and folding, we moved them all to the other room, counting as we went.  Of course, we had to leave some room in the middle, for our boys to go!  How many blankets do you think there are now?

We counted just a few shy of 900 blankets!!!!! Can you believe it??  How wonderful.  Better yet, all three of us still have blankets we are collecting in these next few days.  I wouldn't be surprised if the number reaches One Thousand!!

Back to the boys...we had to take a few pictures really quick, of them together, just in case things get too busy on Friday, for the blanket donation and birthday celebration that we have planned.  I brought all the shirts that my cool sister Sharon made for the boys.  They fit perfectly, and look great.  What fun.  Well, we thought it was fun, but the boys, at first, couldn't care less.

Then we got them to smile!!  How cute are they?  Just adorable.

Can't forget the backs of the shirts!!  They will be ONE in just a few days!

So much fun. We were thrilled to see all the blankets that were donated.  So many loving hearts that contributed to such a wonderful project.  Thank you Thank you, to each and every one of you!!

Wow!!!! I am planning to make some blankets soon to donate to our local DCS office in memory of my mother who worked there with abused and neglected children for years. Last year I took 5 in honor of my grands. I'll need to make 7 this year since no. 7 is due in a few weeks.
