We had the best day ever. It started out by us surprising the kids. We have been telling them we were going to ride the Cogg Railroad up to Pikes Peak. It's a fun old-time railroad train that climbs up through the mountain and takes you to the top of the highest mountain in Colorado. That would be fun in itself, but what we didn't tell them was that it was a special "Santa Train", in that we didn't go all the way to the top. When we boarded the train, we were joined by Santa, Mrs. Claus, and tons of "Elves". We stopped about halfway up, got out at this nice clearing, and had some hot chocolate and cookies with Santa and his elves. Mrs. Claus was a bit delayed, so she wasn't in our family picture, but we got some pictures with her later when she sat down with us on our way back down the mountain.
It was so fun. There was lots of singing of Christmas songs, coloring, prizes, and as many pictures as you could take. What a great day.
(Keaton took this picture of us on the way down the mountain.)
But the fun didn't end there. After the train ride, we drove up into the mountains and cut down our own Christmas Tree! Well, Heath and the boys did. The girls stayed in the van because Kamy got carsick on the way and her clothes were all yucky and wet, and she didn't want to go out in the cold. So we sat in the smelly van for about an hour as the boys scouted out the perfect tree for us to have this year.
Nevertheless, we all had a great time. When we got home, we made dinner and then decorated the tree.
She still gives the best hugs in the world!
