"NO, I Cannot Give You Their Number!"

The phone rings.

I answer it.

"Hello"

Silence

"Hello?"

"Yes. I need to see Dr. Michaels Today."

"I'm sorry. This is a home number. The Doctor's office changed their number and I don't know what it is."

Sigh. "Why don't you have the number?"

"Because I am not their messaging service."

Seriously. I think I might just disconnect my home phone service. I think the only people that call me are Heath and my sister. The other 10 calls I get everyday are for the blasted Doctor's office, who selfishly changed their number and didn't tell any of their patients. I'm annoyed.

Maybe you should get the doctor's office new # and give it out to everyone who calls and then send the lovely doctor a bill!!

You should do it! I had the same rationale...nobody calls me, so what's the point??? Switching to cell phones only was a great decision.

That said, I feel really bad for the guy who got our old number! He gets lots of calls for us.

I know runningfan I called your number the other day and a guy answered. He was really nice considering.

How annoying! I know the Perigos had a number that used to be that of someone who was being chased down by the collections agencies, so they changed theirs because they were getting calls all day, at all hours! I think Colo Spgs gives numbers out too quickly after they've been given up by someone else. I'd never heard of so many situations like yours until I moved here!

We have had our # for 3 years and I still get calls for Scott Miller.
from collection agents.

I would get at least 100 calls a day for him half the time I would not answer the phone.

I don't know how many times they would call and I would tell them that he no longer had that number please take this number off you list. The same agency's would call. I finally got smart and asked for their mangers and threatened to sue. The phone calls stated to stop. Now I only get them once in a while.

Just give them a totally random number and let someone else deal with the problem.

This happened to me and we finally changed our number - so much better! What a pain!!!!

I'd give them a "pest control" number.

Really though... I think I'd call the phone company and explain what is happening and see what they offer to do.

So annoying. I had a similiar thing happen w/ our current number for several years. It was listed wrong in the phone book for some random company. I never did figure out what their real number was. We've now had our number for 6 years and I don't get those phone calls anymore. Thank goodness. I got so sick of it.

We have had the same problem for nine years now for the people with our old number - usually bill collectors. Very unpleasant but comical in the same right. But since we have an awesome number, we just deal. Actually kind of feel sorry for the companies that can't find these people.
