4th of July Parade

My sister Kim and I woke up early this morning (with all the kids) to go to the 4th of July parade in Provo. We had a heck of a time finding a parking spot. People were selling their driveway parking spots for 10 bucks. No takers here though. We drove around for about 20 minutes until we found a spot, then walked about 3 blocks along the parade route until we found a little grassy area we could squeeze in.

It was really crowded. Even then, we were there one hour before the parade started. It poured rain for about 15 minutes, and then the sun came blasting through the clouds and made us wish, just a bit, that the rain would come back.

Finally, the parade started. Along came the firetrucks and the kids did a lot of plugging their ears for the first little bit.

Then they relaxed and started waving to the people in the floats. They especially liked the pretty girls in pretty dresses on the floats. Then things turned sour.
We were about an hour into the parade or so, and we were so sick of hearing the kids complain about being hungry...being thirsty...."when are we leaving?"..."I want candy!" blah blah blah. So Kim and I looked at each other, and said "Let's go then!" So we started walking back to the car during the middle of the parade.
Halfway back to the car, I noticed that Kolby had a can of Coke and was drinking it as we were walking along. Apparently, as we were weaving in and out among the people, he saw a can of Coke sitting there, and took it upon himself to finish it off. Who knows who it belonged to. Darn boy. He will pick up anything off the ground (even old mushed up candy) and eat it. So gross.
Thus ends our parade morning. With a stolen can of Coca Cola.

Glad you are having a great vacation. That story about the Coke was pretty funny. We sure miss you here!
