Someone's happy!

Kimble was actually just finishing up his yawn when I took this picture, but it looks like he was smiling, so let's just pretend he was giving me a smile. We just got done having a photographer come, from Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. It's a wonderful company that consists of volunteer photographers who will come to the hospital and take pictures of children who are experiencing life threatening conditions.

Kimble got a bath, in preparation for his photoshoot. He also got some of his lines temporarily taken off, so that we could see as much of his sweet face as possible.

Under these special circumstances, the kids were also allowed to come and have a few pictures taken with Kimble as well. It was their first time seeing him, and although they weren't allowed to touch him or breathe on him, they got close enough to see him.

It will be some time before we get these pictures, but it was so sweet to be a part of this tender moment. We know that Kimble is ours for eternity, no matter what happens with his future procedures. It was wonderful to celebrate this special time with him, and have it captured forever in a photograph.

I took these pictures after everyone left. I can hardly stand how adorable and lovely he is.

He is a precious gift indeed! I hope you don't mind me peeking in on your little bundle. Heidi told me a little about your situation and I feel an immediate bond with you. Please kiss and cuddle Kimble a little extra for me tonight. What I wouldn't give for one more snuggle with my angel baby Candace. Savor every moment, as I'm sure you're doing. We're thinking of you and your sweet family during this time. Our prayers are definitely with you. ~~Krista

I understand how wonderful it is to see their little faces bare. I didn't see Andrew without tape across his tiny face, holding his feeding tube, and him free from all his other cords, cables and monitors, until the day I took him home from the NICU...five weeks after he was born. He was born five weeks early with all kinds of complications and weighed 3 lbs. 9 oz...it took five weeks to get him to four pounds. He's fourteen now and still has some issues, but he's turned out much better than they EVER thought he would. Cameron was 4 lbs 1 ounces and five weeks early too, with the same pregancy problems, but totally different health issues...but he's also done much better than they told me he would. Hang in in there...it just takes time, faith, and being an advocate for your child. It gets better...really!

I'm a stranger to you, but our common friend, Heidi Bartle, has linked us together. I found your blog from her "ad" for your cookbook and I've been following your story ever since. I just wanted you to know that your experience is touching people from far away and in ways you can't even realize! I'm grateful for you sharing your story and will pray for you and your family to have strength and endurance during this difficult time. Thank you for your wonderful example for me--you're helping me be more compassionate, more grateful, more humble, and more accepting of the Lord's will.
