The New House

Yesterday, we took the kids down to see the new house.  Thus far, they had only seen the outside.  With it being almost finished from having it renovated, we thought it was a good day to show them around, and get them excited about our new house.

Here is a picture of the living room.  That is a gas fireplace (really wished it was a wood burning stove!) and the double doors lead to the back yard.

Now, this next picture is of the opposite side of the house.  I stood right in front of the fireplace to take this picture.  It explains the layout of the house a bit better.

Standing at the arched entrance to the kitchen, you see the bay window behind The Husband, which is where our table will go, and the rest of the kitchen.  It doesn't have as much counterspace as I would like, but it'll do.

We aren't going to use the Dining Room area as advertised.  Instead, it will be our study, which works out better anyway, since we aren't formal dining room type of people.  This next picture is the main bath.

Downstairs, we have a nice big area, and also a pool table that comes with the house.  Back where The Husband is standing, leads to two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Here  are the boys in their new room.  I told them to give me a thumb's up, but obviously Kolby wasn't too thrilled, hence the two thumbs down from him.  When we were negotiating this house, this area was a wet bar.  We told them we didn't need a wet bar, but we did need another bedroom, so I talked them into removing the wet bar, framing in a wall, and adding a bedroom.  It looks great!

The boys were sad they didn't get the other room which is bigger.  Nevertheless, the girls were thrilled with their huge room.

Between their rooms is a bathroom.  It's divided into two rooms, with the double sinks in one and the toilet and bathtub in the other.

So that's a quick tour of most of the house.  I didn't show our room, the master bathroom, or Kimble's room, but you get the idea.   Here is a picture of the outside.  Kolby fell and scraped his hands right before I took this picture, so he's off to the side, crying, instead of sitting with the other four kids.

What do you think?

I think you'll love having everything brand-new! This is way better than the standard "move-in ready" status! Congratulations!

I love it!! So nice and new. Have you thought about adding a butcher block cart to make as an island in the kitchen to give you more counter space? That so nice they added a bedroom instead of pointless wet bar! Have fun moving. We moved 6 days before Christmas last year. It was exhausting. Good luck packing!
